What should a nutritious breakfast include?

The German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends that you eat 55% carbohydrates, 30% fat and 15% protein every day so that your body can function optimally and get everything it needs to perform at its best.

So, you can lay the foundation for getting all the nutrients you need with breakfast. A bowl of porridge provides you with complex carbohydrates, filling fibre, plant-based proteins and healthy unsaturated fatty acids.

Proteins are an important food component and help you to build muscle. However, in addition to their well-known function as muscle builders, they also serve to build enzymes, hormones and other protein structures in the human body.

Cereals, nuts and seeds form the basis for our porridges, granolas and mueslis. These are important plant-based sources of protein, which play a particularly important role in a vegan diet. Fibre helps to keep digestion healthy

Dietary fibre is a fibre-rich indigestible food component that occurs exclusively in plant-based foods. It ensures that you stay full for longer and stimulates your bowel movements. Dietary fibre also ensures healthy digestion and intestinal flora.

It is particularly important to eat a high-fibre meal in the morning. This is because fibre is good for digestion, keeps you full for longer and thus prevents hunger pangs.

According to the DGE, the recommended daily intake of fibre for adults is 30 grams. A single portion of porridge at breakfast time can cover around a quarter of this requirement.
