Granola bars – what is it anyway?
A granola bar, or in German granola bars, is simply referred to as granola in the form of a practical bar. The basic recipe is always the same: the base is oatmeal, oil such as coconut oil provides the binding, and honey is often used as a sweetener.

Depending on your preference, a wide variety of dried fruits or nuts can also be added.
The following, for example, are well suited as a base for granola bars:
- Cocoa nibs
- Cranberries
- Raisins
- Dried fruit such as apricots or banana pieces,
- Flaxseed
- Pumpkin seeds
- Nuts such as hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews, etc.
- Coconut chips
- Spices such as cinnamon or cardamom
So you can see that almost everything can be used for delicious granola bars.

Making Granola Bars Yourself – That’s Why It’s So Healthy
As mentioned earlier, granola bars are ideal as a snack between meals. The oatmeal ensures that you stay full for a long time and can bridge the time until the next "right" meal better. Depending on the ingredients added, a large amount of valuable nutrients, e.g. from the nuts, are also included.
However, it is advisable to make the bars yourself and not to resort to finished granola bars from the supermarket. These often contain a high amount of sugar and are therefore not recommended as a healthy snack at all! Granola bars are also well-suited for your healthy breakfast , especially if you have to go particularly fast or want to eat your breakfast on the go.
